Today the Thune Amendment came up for consideration in the US Senate. The Amendment would have guaranteed reciprocity of concealed carry licenses accross the 50 states. Many states already recognize permits from other states and this law would have made the right to carry law universal.
As a procedural vote it required 60 votes to pass. Unfortunately, it was defeated 58 to 39 with two not present. A good number of pro 2nd Amendment Democrats voted in favor of the law but two RINO's were responsible for the failure of Thune's proposal.
George Voinovich of Ohio
Dick Lugar of Indiana
Add these guys to your list of RINO's and let them know how you feel about their vote!

Stefani's thoughts on Conservatism
- Stefani E. Buhajla
- Fayetteville, Arkansas, United States
- My husband Joe and I live in NW Arkansas with our three children Anna, Ethan, and Hallie. We firmly believe in Conservative values and apply them to our lives while teaching our children about how to preserve those values for their own children.
Republican doesn't always mean conservative. We have local candidates run on a party ticket simply because it is the only way to get on the ballot. In our last sheriff's election, one candidate ran as a Democrat simply because the other candidate already had the Rep. slot.
ReplyDeleteWe have to stop voting on the basis of R or D behind the name. We must learn about the candidates and their values.
So true. I have seen it time and again. Conservatism is a mind set, a set of values and principles that should not be compromised for the sake of self interest. I am encouraged by the new crop of candidates for 2010 and believe we will see some changes at all levels of government.
